Anticipate. 表示单纯的预期时，应用expect。

• 误：I anticipated that he would look older.
• 正：I expected that he would look older.

• 误：My brother anticipated the upturn in the market.
• 正：My brother expected the upturn in the market.

在第二例中，anticipated一词含义模糊。它可能仅仅表示这位兄弟相信行情会上涨，也可能表示他在预期上涨之前就采取了行动——也许是买进了股票。
